porcelain

she has become
as full as an old porcelain basin
white
and streaked
by years of wear
and abuse
by the constant scrubbing
away the bad
stripping the smooth finish
of its alabaster skin
daring the flow of water
into copper pipes
rusted to a patina of red
showing the signs
of heat and cold
coursing through its thinning veins
pin holes breaking open
from the stress of so many
years of pressure building

in the night
all she can hear
is the
drip
drip
drip
of murky memories
escaping
