Love Me Deadly
Love me deadly
Love me strong
Take me in your arms
All your vices to fulfill
Just drag me along
Love me nightshade
Hang me high
I will serve you well
All your dark dreams will come true
I'm under your spell
Love me harshly
Make me bleed
Tie me to your heart
This injustice I endure
Just take me apart
Love me darkly
Make it last
I am here to stay
My heart's beating black and blue
But I'm yours anyway.
Love me strong
Take me in your arms
All your vices to fulfill
Just drag me along
Love me nightshade
Hang me high
I will serve you well
All your dark dreams will come true
I'm under your spell
Love me harshly
Make me bleed
Tie me to your heart
This injustice I endure
Just take me apart
Love me darkly
Make it last
I am here to stay
My heart's beating black and blue
But I'm yours anyway.

This is the other side to Elvis' "Love Me Tender."
"Deadly" is about toxic, abusive relationships and how difficult it can be to break the bond. "Tender" is a beautiful song about longing, and I melt whenever I hear it.
But vices can be fun, so maybe I should just lighten up. Thanks jrocks.

Strong, dark, heavy... It's not about 'bad and desirable', but more cynical and desperate poem, or am I misunderstanding?

It's not meant to be cynical. This poem is dark humor, and it may be gimmicky given the take on Elvis' "Love Me Tender." The theme of abuse in relationships is a serious one, and "Deadly" is not the deepest look at this topic.
The voice of the poem may be cynical, but this might be a defense against very desperate circumstances.
Thanks for the comment, silva. You made me think a little harder.

Love is so complex. You will do anything for love. Just don't short change yourself. Good read, Crowfly.

Thank you, Grace. I try not to. I used to let circumstances and ill-advised "friends" get me into all kinds of compromising positions. A little sadder and somewhat wiser now. Hope to stay that way. Wiser, I mean.

Its passionate. I first read it as an undying devotion to let the love in no matter what you must endure with it. Love will conquer all. But I'm with, Idryad, too on a very personal level; don't ever short-change yourself that worth. 1/2 problem 1/2 solution and such. I didn't see it at first but I Love that you did it to Elvis. Good stuff.

Thank you, Pishashee. I agree that love will conquer all. I'm in a situation right now in which I hope hotter heads will cool. We'll see. A little love would help.

Crow hun i dont read this n see a relationship that is abusive persay
Personally i felt a man willing to submit to this womans needs. Despite where they might take them both. The beauty of poetry n writing is the same thing can b seen by each individual that reads our work.
Awesome ink darlin

Thank you, Belle. I can see how a certain amount of submission would be indicated, and with the right woman I would be willing to make certain sacrifices. I would hope she's reciprocate, give and take. I'm easy.

I knew instantly the title was some kinda of play on something, n yea Elvis' Love me tender surely
the opposite in intent but similar in concept struck me...
Dark, yet intriguing 'look' on the other side
of love's coin...

Thanks, flower. Darkness and tenderness do mix, just so long as that darkness does not entail cruelty.

I'll think about that. How about "Love Me Toxically"? Cheap joke. Thanks for the comment, Loki
