Your Clothes and Me

I have a confession
those clothes you wore yesterday
down to your socks and pants

the clothes you were wearing
when we spent all day out together
exploring
discovering delights
around every foreign corner
my arm
latched into yours
close

Those clothes you were eager to lose
as I
watching them fall
mine having fallen
just before.

It was those very clothes
late in the night
you sleeping so soundly
exhausted
as I crept out of our bed unmade
gathered your clothes
and in the quiet of the small room
I put them on
from socks and pants
to jeans and shirt
breathing in your scent
the aftershave on the shirt lingering
reminding me of our day
the kisses on your neck I gave
displaying our love for all

This is why I'm confessing to you now
as you woke up
you see
I couldn't
didn't feel
right
to take part of you off
so I crawled in beside you
clothes and all

I have been naughty
you may indeed
indeed
take your clothes off
and punish as you see fit..
