The eyes of a child
Melting snowflakes and rainbows so magical and alive,
Bringing promises of hope to their eyes,
Trees twisted roots, the man in the moon, learning to count up to five,
See how the dragonfly flies,
All of the things that are natural and free, everything grows that is wild,
These things are a miracle for a mind to behold, when you look through the eyes of a child.
Storms that make the waves crash against the cliff,
Butterfly's emerge from cocoon,
The sound of the note at the end of the rift, the fullness of a birthday balloon.
A birds cocked head when he's looking at you, and the sea by the light of the moon.
A flower growing through a crack in the wall,
The mothers touch so soft and so mild,
The wondrous sound of the great eagle call, when you look through the eyes of a child.
The magic of Christmas and all that it brings,
The presents laid under the tree,
The flying reindeer but no trace of the wings,
The mysteries that lurk in the sea,
A mothers cuddle so sensual and bliss,
Crunching through leaves as they'r piled,
The flutter that's felt in a sweethearts first kiss, when you look through the eyes of a child.
The untold wonder of the ring where the delicate fairies dance,
In the moonlight, they frolic and play,
A shooting star just noticed by chance and sunrise at the break of the day,
How fascinating growing a life within life,
The miracle of a mother in bloom leaving us all beguiled,
The way laughter can cut through all of our strife when you look through the eyes of a child.
The believing in promises and unconditional love,
The learning of unanswered things,
Simple things, wonderings, like how a hand fits a glove,
And the questions that all of this brings,
The understanding that life's still an unopened gift,
The love that u felt when they smiled,
A simple gesture for your spirit to lift when you look through the eyes of a child
Why a ladybird has spots, and how we tie knots,
All these mysteries for us to unfold,
The excitement of a dream and not knowing what they mean,
And the strangeness of why we grow old,
A lick from a dog is friend bonding kiss, all these questions your mind has compiled,
Curiosity of mind likes to puzzle all this when you look through the eyes of a child.
All this and more, when the frost starts to thaw, the moment takes your breath away, the excitement that's felt leaving u in awe at the night sky at the end of a day,
When you figure out words, understand what they mean,
As your memory makes them profiled,
The admiration that's found in all that is seen when you look through the eyes of a child.
I don't want to grow up, where we loose all that magic, I don't want to see life through sceptic eyes,
These marvelling eyes have grown old and the world now seems tragic, something inside of us dies,
Can't we harness those feelings we felt when so young,
Can this pure approach be reconciled,
Can't we go back, see things we have done when we looked through our eyes as a child.
Bringing promises of hope to their eyes,
Trees twisted roots, the man in the moon, learning to count up to five,
See how the dragonfly flies,
All of the things that are natural and free, everything grows that is wild,
