Tears Crash and Burn

She wrapped her broken heart in rusted mesh
Made of suicide and Autumn wings
There for all to see
The blue little pills give her empty bliss
A lover’s caress eases the sting
Won’t you sing for me?

Tears run free through the mascara
A cascade of blackened streams
Childhood joy turned into terror
Do you know what I mean?

Do you know when
Tears crash and burn,
The empty eyes
Stare back at you?

Roses in candle light, withered in lace
The red wine stains the carpet beneath
Her gentle sobbing
The portraits reminding her of my face
Retreat to a place where I can’t reach
Far from the laughing

Won’t you please forgive me again?
Didn’t mean to go so far
To appease the monster within
Strips of flesh in a jar...

But I love when
Tears crash and burn
Endless sobbing
In torture rooms

And you cry when
The metal burns
Stripping the flesh
The ripping skin

And you come back
For love that burns
Lacerations
Are like roses

Beauty in red
Rivers that burn
Do you love me
With all your heart?

‘Cuz I love you
Now forever
Your heart and mine
Entwined ‘til death
