Immortal Secrets
- Immortal Secrets -
In the primordial mists between the worlds, I have flown,
Free of the bonds of fleshly life’s insistent, daily demands.
Beyond the limitations that mere mortals have oft known,
I have unleashed my will, and spirits obeyed my commands.
What force is my better; am I not truly a manifest divine?
I have seen beyond space, I have ventured beyond all time…
Where I have walked, no living soul would wish to tread,
For I am not amongst the living, though I am not of the dead.
Many, hath seen me, though no mortal eyes ever truly so,
For what I am is beyond anything can hope to comprehend.
Who canst in truth say whither my path shall bid my to go,
Or perchance that path shall ever come to a true final end!
Not eve I canst ever truly hope to fathom it all and know.
I wander, like the nomad who knows not any one home…
Restless I wander, neither as sleeping nor quite yet awake.
Uncertain, for I cannot be sure just why it is, that I roam,
Or the nature of my hunger, which forces me to partake…
Sometimes of blood: and oft of life and spirits and of light.
Yet always of souls, which I might bring into ebon Night!
Sometimes my prey is beautiful, whilst other times strange.
Only the gods so know why the pursuit must always be…
Only they know to where I will be compelled to so range,
To hunt for one who shall complete my grandest destiny.
I know not her name, yet I will know when it is truly she!
When the black moon rises, high, amidst the sea of stars,
Full and beautiful, like the unveiled face of Death herself…
It is then, that I will be healed of all my red ancient scars.
I rise anew, like an old book taken down from its’ shelf…
Given fresh meaning, by all its’ reader’s deepest desires,
So it is that I am ignited by the human hearts’ deep need.
Therein, doth lie all of Hell’s abundantly hot, roaring fires,
And, every darkness upon which I couldst hope to feed!
I f death be a dream, then I am become a dark nightmare,
Yet an attractive one that all people do yet secretly share!
A seductive nightmare beyond reason, beyond compare…
This is but the surface of what it is within all that I truly am.
Understand me, mortals, understand me if thou truly can!
I am a necessary part of a far, far great and eternal plan…
A plan laid out by the gods for thousands of human years,
A plan born in darkness: and given a life, by angelic fears.
I am not permitted, to say all of what herein I fully speak,
So reason out my meanings, if thy mind is not too weak!
What symbols I so constructed, I didst so for thee alone,
Since the gods need them not to drive the message home.
What I obscure, I do so with purpose, testing mortal will!
Not all are worthy to accept what the future doth so hold.
The answers existed, mortal, far before thy worldly birth,
Long after thou art gone, they shall continue to exist still…
But if thou art made after a truly divine and blessed mold,
Then, in thy wisdom, thou wilt surely prove thy full worth.
For now, I shall vanish into the mists of Night once more,
Taking with me the secrets of many a bygone eternal age…
Leaving only a hint of what the next age hath yet in store.
Just a few cryptic words on an obscure and cryptic page!
Perhaps thou wilt know curiosity, mayhap thou wilt rage.
I am a creature of the Night, and I am a riddle unsolved…
Understand me, mortals, understand me well if thou may!
Some mysteries are not so easily known and so resolved,
Even, with the coming of the light of the new cycle’s day.

Two serpents, essentially one..like the 2 strands of DNA. Cosmically engineered to search for completion we are, throughout the ages. Our hunger and thirst, maybe just to create the motive, the urge..so we play our part in the great scheme of things. Or i'm just a fool haha..nevertheless i enjoyed your cryptic words, thank you for sharing :)

Actually, your comment was quite profound and well worded! You see many of the hidden things within this poem which are all part of the greater and grander tapestries that lie beneath the surface. The cosmic things, as opposed to the more mundane things which are also there to be seen! So you are actually quite wise, and not a fool at all. It was a pleasure to read your comment, too. Indeed Jessica the ways of the immortal are not known to all and at times will never be revealed even to an old soul due to karmic law. At times a whole life time is lived without knowing until the hunter hunts the soul to further traverse another cycle and a rebirth. It could be hundreds of life cycle too...like what you experienced. In my humble opinion that is. I was only the scullery maid and the drowned child in the Yangtze River. :)

Well said, Grace! I have oft said myself that some secrets can only be revealed to the initiated, the worthy, or the chosen. Only when one is ready to receive cosmic truths can one learn by them and proper thereby. Some do indeed take nigh unto countless lives to evolve and perfect themselves enough to finally be considered worthy and able to be at last privy to greater knowledge and deeper wisdom. You understand many profound things, Grace, and are wise even in your humility. Perhaps especially because of your humility! Even the most common of maidens or the simplest of children can sometimes see the glory of the heavens whilst many adults and some considered to be wise might be denied such a glimpse of glory. It sometimes takes a childlike innocence to appreciate such precious gifts and glimpses of greater things! Your comment shows much wisdom and much knowledge, and is welcome as always dear friend. :D

Beautifully done and such a picture as beautiful as this one deserves a beautiful poem that you have done so wonderfully. Its truly amazing.

I am happy you enjoyed it, Lilly! Actually, I always write my poems first and then choose an appropriate illustration for them afterwards, but I must say this poem goes so well with that painting that either could easily serve to complement the other flawlessly.
