How to have an adventure. Part 5.

1. People in cliques are hard to talk to.
Especially women.
You said, “hey, I like your & symbol tattoo”
she says “oh yeah, I forget it’s even there”
you spend a few minutes talking about your tattoos
before she turns back to her friends.

2. You hit up the quite wasted people
on the other side of you
they’re straight and friendly enough
look like old drug addicts
but you don’t mind
they’re interesting.

3. You tell them about this girl you saw
earlier in suspenders, thigh high stockings
hot pants and a dog collar.
The guy jokes that it was his.
You look up from the conversation
to find the most interestingly dressed guy
you’ve seen all night to rival the girl you saw earlier
and considering where you are
he’s pretty interesting
dressed in knee high boots and lace stockings
all the way up to the black lace boob tube top, and cardigan.
You’re assuming he was wearing hot pants or something similar
because you couldn’t bring yourself to look
at that part of his anatomy to find out.

4. You compliment this new guys outfit
‘cause why the fuck not.
You love freaks. You love anyone that
that says a big fuck you to the status quo
and faces the world knowing
that they’re going to be judged.
He’s not gay. He’s bi, he’s 41
and yesterday was his birthday.
You say happy birthday and give him a hug.

5. He rants at you about how much some people
are cunts and how life is too short to give a fuck
about what other people think.
He shares his theories on men and women
and how he figures it would be so much easier
to be a woman, though most men just want
to fuck and leave.
“Love is just a word” he says
“most people don’t know what it means.”
You smile because you know what it means.
You might be without it, but you know what it is.
And you’re proud that you’re old enough now
to have figured out that sex doesn’t equal love
and that you can’t fuck yourself into someone’s heart.

6. You ask him if you can get a photo of him
because he’s so interesting.
You try a selfie and accidentally cut yourself
out of it, so it ends up being just him
and his friend.
You get his friend to take a photo
of the two of you.
You want to remember everything about this night
though you’ve met so many people you can’t
remember his name.
