STORMS

The T.V. Is screaming with warnings and weather alerts, people announcing all the areas in its path, telephones are chiming, beeping, and playing little tunes, NASA's satellites, radars, and computers are working out the math.

Media devices are all going strong, individuals using this technology to warn loved ones of the terrors about to go on, moms are keeping little ones calm, while dads are watching the skies, waiting for the earth to drop its naturally made bomb.

The skies darkening by the minute, wind speeds intensifying, then comes the rain, the trees sway, and the clouds swirl, there is an eeriness to the air, everyone can feel the earths uneasiness, as the sirens start to wail and whirl.

Trash starts to tumble across parking lots and streets,
Trees start to bow and break, buildings creek and strain, off in the distance you can hear it coming like an invisible train.

Huddle up close in bathrooms and basements, praying silently, that we will all be kept unharmed and safe, wondering and waiting for each sacrifice we will have to make, hoping our homes will withstand the fury that's at stake.

What seemed like hours only lasted seconds, we can feel the tension of this storm ending, deep breaths from all of us descending, we emerged from our safe havens, thankful that we been spared by our God and the great Heavens.

Not really wanting to know the level of destruction, but needing to see what we have been chosen to live through, we open up our doors and walk outside, we stare in awe at the magnitude of devastation, as this storm brewed, wrecked homes, and left others untouched and new.

We reach out to neighbors and loved ones, a community left in carnage, amazingly, this tragedy will turn into something more, it will bring strangers together, make bonds we never knew, as scary as these events can be, they keep us strong and true.

As time passes and the memories of these events fade, once new friends go back to being strangers, we forget the terrors on everyone's face, life once again fills with empty hellos and how are yous, routines fall back into place.

Isn't it sad that it takes so much to makes us realize the importance of life?, yes storms are terrifying and amazing, but the feeling of togetherness that they bring, during these moments in seemingly empty space, is what should be the norm from day to day, if we all realized this, then maybe just maybe, the world would truly be a happier place!
