I let fear win the race
and paid the price for my obstinacy
with pain, and an internal humiliation
barely overshadowed by the relief
that the battle is (mostly) over
though in retrospect
courage would have saved me
all this trouble and pain
and internal humiliation
that fortunately no one can see

"Fortunately" indeed. I argued once, and was made to look a fool, that we see only a tiny fraction of the world with eyes. Though i admit, i lacked touches of eloquence in my speech.
