Laissez Tomber Les Filles
I looked across the table at her,
Wondering what she was thinking.
Then, shook my head at a memory of
A girl that broke my heart long ago.
She fidgeted in confusion and anger.
“Do you love me?” she asked.
“As much as I could love any girl”, I said.
“Why can’t you just say yes?”, she pried.
“I’m not the person for you”, I replied.
“I’m tired of trying so hard”, she fired.
“I wish you didn’t love me”, I sighed.
“Did you have to cheat on me?” she cried.
I didn’t answer. I just looked down.
She took a deep breath and slid
My cup of coffee towards me.
I took a second to think and said,
“I can’t do this. I can’t love you.
I can’t spend another night with you.”
Leaning forward and looking
Into my eyes, she asked,
“Did you ever really love me?”.
“Yes”, I whispered to her,
“I’m realizing I loved you all along,
Thats why I’m letting you go.”
Wondering what she was thinking.
