Don't Walk Into My Shadow
Don't walk into my shadow.
It's a web that devoured souls.
And it's freezing cold.
Don't look in my eyes.
It's a portal to another dimension,
A dark place
I wish to forget.
Don't listen to my footsteps.
They're praying on my behalf,
To escape this skin
That drives me mad.
Don't compliment me on my smile.
It's a burden to my mouth.
And I don't trust it.
I don't like how it sprouts.
If only I could blink reality out
Of my mind.
If only I could lick my watch
And tongue-kiss time.
Then I wouldn't be a disappointment
To a failed prophecy.
But the failure wasn't the prophecy,
The failure was me.
I failed to feel,
I failed to fight for what I loved.
I failed to live.
I failed to offer my heart
Another chance, at love.
Please don't walk into my shadow,
Because it's alive.
Just walk through me
But don't look in my eyes,
Or expect
A smile.
It's a web that devoured souls.
And it's freezing cold.
Don't look in my eyes.
It's a portal to another dimension,
A dark place
I wish to forget.
Don't listen to my footsteps.
They're praying on my behalf,
To escape this skin
That drives me mad.
Don't compliment me on my smile.
It's a burden to my mouth.
And I don't trust it.
I don't like how it sprouts.
If only I could blink reality out
Of my mind.
If only I could lick my watch
And tongue-kiss time.
Then I wouldn't be a disappointment
To a failed prophecy.
But the failure wasn't the prophecy,
The failure was me.
I failed to feel,
I failed to fight for what I loved.
I failed to live.
I failed to offer my heart
Another chance, at love.
Please don't walk into my shadow,
Because it's alive.
Just walk through me
But don't look in my eyes,
Or expect
A smile.
