I wouldn’t change, if you paid me

I wouldn’t change, if you paid me :

What is it? What is it? What is bothering you?
You’re looking, for something
Don’t tell me “it’s nothing”
Tell me, you might be surprised
If I serve myself up, on a golden plate, for you
Please, play nice? Don’t bite, unless I ask you to
Everyone has something they want to try
Everyone has something they ache to do
I won’t mislead you; I will try, if you want me to
Just please be nice do not be rude, please, I am asking you?
You ask me “Why? Why?” Because I can, and I want to
I like to believe you would do the same thing for me to

Sometimes kindness backfires on you, but I wouldn’t change, if you paid me
I will not walk past someone, who needs me,
I will always sit with the homeless, and eat with the hungry
In these treacherous city streets, everyone gets lonely
We can talk for hours about anything and nothing
The things you learn about the places they been
How life had abused and beaten them
You give up, you lose the fight, and you stop trying
I know this world very well; I use to be one of them
Living down here in hell
I was forced to be strong so I got out
Sometimes kindness backfires on you,
I wouldn’t change, if you paid me
I will not walk past someone, who may need me,
I will always sit with the homeless, and eat with the hungry
In these treacherous city streets, everyone needs somebody
