Ain't No Heinz Ketchup Here

She must believe that great American myth
all things revolve around capitalism and competitiveness
loves to entertain in public
on the dance floor her body takes command
you can see in her eyes and in theirs
like a pack of wolves ready to feast
gives no suggestion as to her choice
she makes me wait

Thinking the battle is over
I get her alone
but the adventure is just beginning
checks the computer and the cell phone too
comes up with myriad of things to be done
full realization that seeing her prance to and fro
has created an inferno of desire
she still makes me wait

So I am waiting and waiting
minutes make hours and hours make days
the same song and dance
has me questioning myself
and then I make the realization
that the problem is inside my head
two decision makers here
denied even a mere kiss

The game continues
waiting and hoping
hoping and waiting
but the characters have now changed
she assumed I would be there
but my "there" is somewhere else
so she waits
and I am gone
