On the avenue

On the avenue:

Sia sang
“Party girls don’t get hurt
Don’t feel anything
I push it down, I push it down
123,1233,123,1233,123,1233
Throw ‘em back till I don’t stop
I am holding on for tonight
keep my glass full until morning light
Cause I am just holding on for tonight
Help me I am holding on for dear life”

I felt my soul crying
nothing fell from my eyes
I remembered the streets tonight
The dark ally’s filled with trash
And to many shadows
to hide in plain sight
The gleam from the corner lights
The cameras hanging from the post up high
Like the police would come
to the avenue at night
the beat they hit is in the daylight
when we sleep, and are safe from the heat
this is where the hunters prey on the week
and the strong stand and fight
and the children from hell live there life
it was my home for to many years
it seems like yester night
I was just here
men make you a women
women hate you
unless give them a hit from your boiled
down fly
on a dirty spoon
you learn how to do a good shoot
you don’t dear pop a vein
they come back over and over again
where tattoos mean something
not what the educated ones
like to pretend they do
where here you’re a star
just for being the freaky you
people gather round
just to buy a dream
they like to talk about things
that they no they will never do
God,
home sweet home I miss you
but
Sia sang
“Party girls don’t get hurt
Don’t feel anything
I push it down, I push it down
123,1233,123,1233,123,1233
Throw ‘em back till I don’t stop
I am holding on for tonight
keep my glass full until morning light
Cause I am just holding on for tonight
Help me I am holding on for dear life”

I never felt the burn from a needle stick
Or the numb from a powerful hit
I never did it
I knew I would get out and I did
But like they say
you can take a girl from it
But it lives on, in her
That’s some deep shit
Like in the winter
Dressing up
I look like the perfect ho
And the boom
I sold it to you
Not my body you are
never worth my body
it’s the candy… you know the
Candy, you need it, can’t live with out
Hit the streets hustle and repeat
Girls coming from miles away
To feel the burn
to just get away
From the avenue
You pour drinks
down your throat just to
Get away from the avenue
You learn a lot about what people will do
Down on the avenue
I had to leave it
I left my people
I left them
sometimes
I miss the avenue
I make some calls
walk in the doors
it was like I never left at all
Down on the avenue
Once you’re loved
they always love you
down on the avenue
