The Taming of the Beast
Oh I love you dearly miss
Though you frustrate me so
I am full of faith in you
As thoughts go to and fro
I so old and you so young
Who’d have thought it twice?
That fire could learn patience
From melting blocks of ice
And though I pull and struggle
As you run me round the ring
Now I know you mean no harm
Only praise for you I sing
And when I feel the sting of whip
And bits between my teeth
I’ll understand in your firm hand
Love looms in veins beneath
You will tame this brutish beast
And so grateful will he be
When you ride upon his back
Such wonders both shall see
Though you frustrate me so
I am full of faith in you
As thoughts go to and fro
I so old and you so young
Who’d have thought it twice?
That fire could learn patience
From melting blocks of ice
And though I pull and struggle
As you run me round the ring
Now I know you mean no harm
Only praise for you I sing
And when I feel the sting of whip
And bits between my teeth
I’ll understand in your firm hand
Love looms in veins beneath
You will tame this brutish beast
And so grateful will he be
When you ride upon his back
Such wonders both shall see
