UNDERSTANDING JEUX
(Inspired by "Jeux" by Debussy)
Navigating Debussy’s [font=Times New Roman]“Jeux”
disturbed by it’s chaotic rhythms
confused with its atonality
yearning to listen with her ears
plumb the depths of her understanding
feel the passion that excites
her every muscle, every tendon to dance
Aidez-moi, s'il vous plaît, à comprendre
Et voilà
on me an epiphanic light shines
the vicissitudes of life
are in the music displayed
wherein the promise of death
is the only tonic note guaranteed
our very existence
a symphony yet unfinished
with the high E scream
of violins are we born
into a world of musical expression
from tranquil harp
thundering anger of timpani
trumpets blare of success
sultry, sensual oboe
flute and clarinet
in romantic duet intertwined
peaceful often times melancholy cello
To every dissonant note we dance
enraptured by every variation of movement
each tombé followed by relevé
mid trial and pain we glissade en avant
our happiness displayed with Grand jeté
ecstacy defined by our sensual pas de deux

You are wondrous. Claude Debussy is no easy composer. I played classical piano for many years and have not done so for too long, but I have played Debussy and he is a challenge. Yet, he is rewarding and when one comes to understand, ah, he is a gift.

I thinks it so sexy that you are a classical pianist :) I do love the music of Debussy and that whole impressionist movement. Can you play Manuel de Falla "Nights In A Garden of Spain?"
I have never played de Falla. Though I am unbelievably rusty at this point, I imagine with quite a bit of practice, I could play anyone who was not too much more demanding than Chopin's Revolutionary Etude or Beethoven's Sonata Pathetique, two I used to play regularly.
