Have you ever had ...
a friend who displays strength like no other, in every possible way
spiritual, emotional, physical, social, vocational, inspirational
someone that is not family by blood, yet embodies all
your family could ever be, all you can imagine and wish for
the pleasure to shake the hand of a man or woman, look them in the eye
and instantly know they are the genuine article, the definition of authentic
that special bond which exceeds all you've ever known
above and beyond every conceivable friendship
something forged so strong it can never be destroyed
no matter the circumstances nor consequences, it lives on
welded in common character, wrought with integrity
transformed by mutual care, shielded with total understanding
embodied in spirit
Have you ever had ...
I have.
It is the ultimate privilege and honor.
I know.

It is men like my dearest departed Dad, and now my deceased neighbor (adopted Dad) whom I attempt to emulate. Hopefully, some semblance of their character will live on.

Great poem. A true friend should be like family and that friend will always stick by you unlike others who would just turn away and walk away.

Sir, i remember our first interaction and remarking to my partner how it's been a very long time since i've spoken with/chatted to someone of your calliber.
your integrity speaks volumes about the people you've surrounded yourself with, how they've added value to your growth and experiences.
that alone helps me understand the kind of person you've lost.

Yes I have Mr. Vegas and it is an incredible honor....I certainly feel blessed.
I am certainly honored and blessed to know and read poets like you who are incredibly talented and gifted.....you are inspirational, emotional and at times spiritual in ways...lol.

Dearest Mr VP...I have...I have looked into the eyes of said person and known truth and honor dwelled within, that strength and good character thrummed thru their veins; that care, concern and love was freely given; so I can say I have been so blessed. I also have stood at the grave of the same person and weeped at the loss that not only I felt, but the loss any who knew and would have ever known would feel... your words speak volumes for not only your character, but for those you write of. warmest hugs sent.. with love and respect..xoxo domore
