Soul Windows

Look into my eyes, tell me what do you see?
Can you tell that looking back hurts?
Are you able to trace the specks of my sorrow?
Or observe the magnification of your every grey?

Look into my eyes, tell me what do you see?
Do smile lines appear if my smile is pretend?
Can you see the shadows of yesteryear’s sparkle?
If you catch my gaze, do you see the haze glazed over?

Look into my eyes, tell me what do you see?
Did loss take away the part of them that looked up?
Can you notice when they twitch involuntarily?
Do they reflect the way I see only black?

Look into my eyes, tell me what do you see?
How dull are they now make up rarely adorns them?
Are they metallic coloured like the roboticness I feel?
And if I'm not really turned on, do they still dilate?

Look into my eyes, tell me what do you see?
Do the ghosts that haunt me scare you too?
Does the wretched tiredness shine through?
Do they throb like the ache all in my head?

Stare as long as you dare, but please tell me…
If you look into my eyes, can you reach a soul that I can’t?
