Cynic

We donít believe
in the world anymore
all the hope is faded
and now you look down at me
for giving in to the darkness
thatís plagued me for years

True optimism isnít edged
with barbed wire accents
and Iíve long stopped asking
why you keep trying to stab me
when the sun rises on rainy days

Iíve started saying
ďIím not mean, Iím just honestĒ
to cover up the bitch inside
every time I say something
you donít like

I never meant
to get this bitter
I never meant to be this cruel
all my alibis justified
under the illusion of tough love
making me just another hypocrite
in my own eyes

Because I donít believe
in the illusion of this world anymore
the one where dreams come true
and justice isnít just a word in the dictionary
forget the fairy tales
the only thing Iím sure of is loneliness
Iíve no evidence to prove me otherwise
