Acceptance

All that rang in my ears were "you're not good enough"
over time hearing that in your head, you start believing it
I try to be everything you want me to be:
do what you want me to do
say what you want me to say
I even changed my way of thinking

All for what?
All for someone who thinks it's not enough
accusations pierced my ears
"You never will..."
"You can't..."
"Yes, but you didn't..."
everything I didn't do right was always pointed out

But not anymore
oh, no "friend"
if you can't see how hard I'm trying
if you can't see the things I do right
if you can't see the sacrifices I've made
then you don't deserve any of my effort

I'll think what I want
I'll say what I want
I'll tell of how I feel
I'll do what I want
I am my own person
I do NOT need you telling me it's not enough
because it is enough
It's always been enough
I can do anything I want
because I AM enough
