It Happened So Fast (8 Years)

6 train, Lexington Ave. line
2.25 what a ride
It breaths down my back
An incessant reminder a pathological assault
This commemorative attack
116th, a scary place
If you look much deeper
Past the mariachi bands and soul food stands
Manaical street sweepers passionless diary keepers
Glassine envelopes and hypodermic murals
That read "De la Vega Lives"
Fortune telling junkies and the pawn shop prophets
Are all the cops targets
He says "to wait right here"
With my swollen belly and numerous felonies
I waited eight years
Standing on 116th and Lex
Where the mural now reads "De la Vega Saves Lives"
