Prisoner of A Silent Heart

Her heart is silent
about her love for him
she knows she is not as dear
as the flowers in his garden

he smiles at her with kindness
that she wishes can turn
into delight in her presence
more than sympathy’s warmth

He walks around the circle
of her pulsating heart’s aura
hearing not the struggle
of her pining soul’s desire

He is marrying her sister today
her heart is aching, broken
beyond recovery and repair
she feels lost and alone

She has packed her bags
she is on the greyhound
going over the state line
imprisoned in her state of mind.
