Brief Moment in Time
We did not expect us to happen,
It is by chance that we be together.
Our disenchanted lives were already sadden.
We wanted, we needed more.
We did not look for it,
We did not seek it,
But when our paths crossed,
It was out of our hands - Fate had intervened.
With our guards down one night,
It became apparent that a connection was there.
The cards were laid out for all to see,
They shouted - This is what I feel.
The cards did not lie,
For what they said was - I desire it too.
A drink or two may have taken the edge off,
What was underneath - No one can deny.
It was the ribbon of Fate, unraveling its master plan.
Dare we follow,
Or retreat into our malcontent existence?
Not knowing what price Fate was to demand,
We embarked with only our hearts and desires to guide us.
What we discovered,
What we became,
Will take a lifetime to understand.
Not knowing for an instant where this might go,
Only knowing where it could not go,
But it did -
The line was crossed.
It was crossed many times,
Each time we came back with more,
More passion,
More guilt,
More fear.
There were many regrets afterwards,
But they did not seem to matter at the time.
Each time the line was crossed
Deeper, deeper - We fell into each other.
We were caught,
Caught, in a timeless endless void,
Where only you and I could exist.
What we saw - Is what we wanted to see.
What we felt - Is what we wanted to feel.
Was it real?
Did we really see and feel each other within each other?
We did at the time - That is a Truth,
Otherwise we wouldn't of pressed on,
Damn the regrets - Damn the guilt - Damn the fear.
Love had happened where it could not happen,
But something had to give.
Our Lives and newfound Love could not exist together,
It was not our choice to make.
How can Life be so cruel?
It is the price that Fate was to demand.
We did not see it then,
We see it clearly now,
Oh, how clearly we see it now.
To Love,
To be Loved in return,
But still not be able to Love,
That is the cruelty in Life.
Why oh why?
How many times have we asked that question?
We can ask it 'till the end of time.
The only response will ever be - It’s just the way Life is.
It has to be - If our lives are to continue.
We will not have a Life together,
That is the true tragedy here,
Cause Life is bigger than Love,
And we have individual lives to live.
But Fate will intervene again,
When it does - Experience the Love we will.
For all that it was,
For all that it is,
For all that it can be,
Cause Love is only but a brief moment in time,
When Life allows Fate to intervene.
It is by chance that we be together.
Our disenchanted lives were already sadden.
