Carpe Noctem
The Moon is an Enchantress;
Drawing stars like bewitched lovers
into the radiance of Her light.
Coy, crescent smile
She taunts you with Her distant glow
Mesmerized by celestial beauty
you are in awe as you reach out to touch Her,
longing for nothing but Her embrace
What agony! She lies so far off
Beckoning, She calls to you
She is so lonely...
Her voice rings in the air
like the whispering wind
You cannot help but to obey
"Come to me"
You venture on through the night
One goal in sight,
Reach for the light,
And touch the Moon.
Blinded by your desire
You will follow,
and follow,
Reaching for Her false light
Poor mortal, don't you see?
It is not Her light which you seek,
But a stolen ray of Sun!
She is but an illusion
Leading you on,
To the approaching dawn,
The night nearly gone
Spent searching in vain
for that which will never be yours.
Close your eyes
Drifting on a cloud you dream
of touching the Moon
Her luminescent skin just inches
from your fingertips.
Poor mortal, don't you realize?
She will be gone before you wake.
Drawing stars like bewitched lovers
into the radiance of Her light.
Coy, crescent smile
She taunts you with Her distant glow
Mesmerized by celestial beauty
