Morningstar: Beneath the Stench of Brimstone (Revised)

"Abandon all hope ye who enter here."

    -Dante's Inferno

Here, the sun shines no more
As tattered souls slip through the door
A last lament on broken lips
Choke on ash in this apocalypse
The air is thick with death
Sulfur and brimstone on your breath
The inferno’s black mark
As the thorns of damnation
Encircle your heart

Those false christian values made a mockery out of me
A horny red-tailed demon made of cockery and greed
Spilling chaos everywhere so wantonly and blind
Those made up fairy tales made me tragically shine

  Beneath the stench of brimstone

Faithless, careless
Obsess, caress
To molest

The holy light with hellfire
To look in the mirror
That’s cracked and covered in soot
Now the game’s afoot
God on the right, me on the left
Choose quick with bated breath
The path of the righteous man
Or the legions of the damned

Those old stories tell of the savagery inside of me
The wild hunts with shady cavalry of horsemen
Pestilence, famine, war and death savagely burned the land
Brought down empires, droves in dying throes, the fall of man

  Beneath the stench of brimstone

Excess, distress
Confess, possess
With success

The black pits with the souls, tortures
Many feasting vultures
Engorging themselves of flesh
Rotted, death’s caress
Skinless fingers reach out to me
Even as vermin feed
The path of the righteous man
Has joined with the damned

Here, the sun shines no more
As tattered souls slip through the door
A last lament on broken lips
Choke on ash in this apocalypse
The air is thick with death
Sulfur and brimstone on your breath
The inferno’s black mark
As the thorns of damnation
Encircle your heart
