Hip-gangsta' wannabes with their illiterate raps and their poser-pride
Flinging their shit to the side, it continues to fester

Nostalgia takes effect, forcefulness helps us comprehend
what the fuck happened to the once great and respected
home of intellectual discussion and hard earned recognition

Everything in life is what you make of it, Evan. Instead of always seeing the negative, perhaps you are one to make the changes you desire to see? Every one of us are at different levels of caliber both in life and in writing ability, here at DUP; maybe those at a more experienced level should mentor the up-and-comers and those just beginning, in order to train them up right, so they can hold their own, when someday the baton is passed to them? It's like a unit of soldiers--dissention among the ranks, tears apart, when the soldiers need to work as a team to build up and accomplish their mission.

Amen to that MadameLisa...although I could see that Evan is just venting his frustrations. For those of us at senior level must lead and not fall into the pit of those low level individuals. Respect begets respect and must be earned.

I love a good anger poem (shouldn't this be in that category?) and this one's ripe with skin-shredding scorn. It's really more of a rant than a poem, because it doesn't contain many images or metaphors and the like, but its lines are elegant and it's structured well enough to be enjoyable. It's also smart and sardonic.

Euan (AscensionES), this is a brilliant poem, venting and sardonic, filled with rhetoric and sarcasm, but it is also stylistically magnificent.
The repetition of lines - I confess, I love it! It is scathing in its rebuke, true, yet artistically, pure treat! And, there is this comment you make about elitism which wholly resonates within me.
