Whispers

She walks alone in the snow
He walks alone in her shadow

She did not stop him
He did not beg
She did not lead
they didn’t pretend

She pulls in her breath
deeply
feelings pushed aside
completely
adjusting her dress ever so
neatly

He staggers forward
She leans back
He clutches his heart
She touches hers

He whispers goodbye
She whispers
please die ...
