Art Has Limits

At first I thought of a portrait
incorporating the vivid colors of you
suggesting a master artist in fine form
but alas that would be a limited medium
for canvass is not able to encapsulate
what is a full sensory experience for anyone
encountering you divine

Likewise sonnets, poems, other prose
engage the brain and the eyes
but other stimulations are in play
for the nearness of you
the vocal displays of erotica so intense
the warmth of flesh with flesh
the seizures of pleasure's grasp

As much as the presence of music means to me
not even that forum frames your totality
for one does not need sound to understand your appeal
the presence of your breath can be felt on the skin without decibels
the sultry manner in the walk without auditory movements
sweet surrender transcends one mortal sensory engagement

And so I can abandon any hope of encapsulating
with pen and tablet
misguided notions of fully sharing
what is a full body and mind joy
and rather hope that my expression of affinity
finds you loving what/who you are
