Image for the poem The Hanging Tree

The Hanging Tree

Rain clouds roll in on the mourning winds
Killing the light of day
Whispers of dying sunlight
Laments the coming grey

She left me at the bleeding stone
With my crimson stained hands
Clenched in agony's grip
Cursed in the world of.man

Lost and alone in a cruel world
Born of hate, despair and greed
Welcome Hell as your loved one is
Swinging from the hanging tree

Knights of wormwood and nightshade
Entwined in love's embrace
The splendors of her pale flesh
Pleasures beyond the gates

Drowning in veils of falling tears
Awash in our past sins
Of secrets under moons
Facing the devil's grin

And she still visits me nightly
Her face stained with angel dreams
Weeping open as your loved ones
Are swinging from the hanging tree

How do I live
When my love
Dangles
From withering
Branches
Under the
Pouring
Rain?

There is no amount of magic
To bring her back to me
Still I wish upon falling stars
To burn brightly in trees
