Dark Bars and Rock and Roll

You never find it if you're looking for it.
It happens in the least likely of places.
Our eyes met from across the bar,
and you ran to me.
Crashing into me with a warm embrace.
A smile is my reflex.

I remember the first time you brought me here.
Music blaring, making me lean closer to you to talk.
Like life was giving me a shove in the right direction.
And now we are back, Rock still thumping.
The bass pounding in my chest with my heartbeat.
We go up to the stage to watch the band.

Dancing, swaying, the energy surging through everyone.
Between you and me.
You move closer, and I see your most beautiful smile.
There was something about the way you pull me in
and talk into my ear that turns me on.
I want to stay in the moment.

But the show always has to come to an end.
We spend a few more precious minutes enjoying the night together.
The bartender shouts "last call!"
We get up to say our goodbyes.
Another embrace, but I say, "love you."
And you replied with a, "love you too."

A smile is my reflex.
