I'm Sorry Mama

I'm sorry mama,
But your baby girl is gone.
She found out that you were right-
She has to be strong when others say mean things
But she can't be when it's her that thinks the same.
I'm sorry mama,
But your baby girl is an addict.
She listened to the advice you gave her-
"Find a way to cope with the pain"
But I'm pretty sure your solutions don't involve a lighter.
I'm sorry mama,
But your baby girl is depressed.
She heard you say,
"Sometimes you're just going to have bad days"
But every day is the same, bad yes, but also dark and hopeless.
I'm sorry mama,
But your baby girl is a fake.
She listened when you told her,
"You have to smile through the worst"
But every smile kills her more effectively than a bullet.
I'm sorry mama,
But your baby girl is suicidal.
You never told her that death is a good option
But she thought it was her only one.
I'm sorry mama,
But your baby girl is gone.
