Memories of a Demigod

I will remember you as you used to be
Strong, independent and
Ready to take life by the throat
No stop button on your body
Willing to try anything once
The enthusiasm you had was infectious
Everyone wanted to be around you
Everyone wanted to be you
You were the life of the party
Unpredictable and fearless
Without a cruel bone in your body
Trusting to a fault and
That’s how your downfall came to be
From the person you placed upon
A golden alter for all of us to see and
Hope to one day aspire to obtain but
This was no angel you prayed to
The horns were hidden from your sight
Alas but not to ours and she
Knew where your achilles heel lied
Though we tried to bring reason to light
Blind adoration conquered all
Except for the deceivers heart
Down you came
Before our eyes you melted
Into the mortal, broken form
We see today struggling to hold
Together the crumbling world around you
Pride condemned you to resist
The outstretched hands of your comrades
Seeking to place you back
On the lighted hill top
From where you came
Seems as though demigods die
A most horrendous public death but
I will remember you as you were
During the glory days of herculean feats
Before the alter was torn asunder
