squander-scent
I am sunken in the campfire waters
Nature's bitch - I inhale a fly
it tastes like hunger and desperation
I am alone at the water's edge
smokey and bent with spiders
that have taken shelter
in my tangle of hair
We are one
and I am unafraid
of the venom in my bones
that creak like youth turned to dirt
with misery
You are a vampire
stateless
and wandering the urban wilds
I have run a million miles
to squander my scent with cigarettes and campfires
but still you call my name
