You Should Have Kept Smiling When
you should have kept smiling when
you had the chance and were still
quite fresh and whole before all that
changed you because of me was the
affected bliss you should have sought
but such is the way of the Time given
here in the path chosen by your semi-
ignorant passion…
sweet you were then both tasted and
treasured as fluid human spirit i am
sure having met before on another
sphere much long ago…
i believe there are no mortal words to
convey or express the simple pleasure
both profound or obsessed with the
this or the that of your flesh which is
what led me primarily toward a lust
unforgiven which i had never drank
either before of since…
it snowed when first i saw you dancing
in it at dusk in your robe and slipperys
as i moved my stuff in upstairs how
silly and forward of you to ask to borrow
a cup of milky milk the next morning but I
guess you needed to see who I was close
up and hear my voice speak to you…
it was months after that we smoked
cigs and units on the porch while
you wore that revealing bathing suit
which accentuated that smooth brown
flesh of yours in the sunlight while i
sat in the shade my flesh burning i said
regardless and my desire burning in
spite of and in the night we caressed
that smoke and i showed you stars you
never could see (Tom) and all that before
those first bourbon flavored kisses which
were forever destined to become an almost
soul rattling of undoing for me once again…
…will continue though ill at ease...
