All The Truth That's In Me

Cut out my tongue like the colonial girl who witness her best friend die by the side of the river.
Make me into the criminals of The Capital, unable to speak.
Speaking means opinions, opinions made rebellion.
The spark, the gas, the flame-- We're on fire.
And we're going to strip, purge and burn this world away.
Lock my secrets shut.
And I'll be able to never tell.
Do it to punish me or protect me.
I'll never know.
I'll be a witch and a prisoner, one way or another.
No one will bother to talk me, the girl with the mutilated speech.
They'll think that I'm cursed.
So I remain in silence, counting my days.
Watching you, my dear from so faraway.
And everyone else will watch me.
Because I hold the truth.
All the truth that's in me.

It's dying--
Dying to be let out.

But your secrets are safe with me.
I can never tell.
Cut out my tongue and keep me safe then send me on my way.
Like the colonial girl whose friend couldn't be saved.
The rebels know the secrets, so they wait for their mockingjay.

And I--
I wait for you.
You to notice me.
Keeping you safe, without being seen.
Without saying a single thing.
The truth is locked away, inside of me.
A secret I can never tell.
Even if I wanted to, the knowledge is locked inside of me.
I cannot speak because if I do, you will all know.
And I can never burden anyone with the knowledge that I know.

I am silenced for my own good.
To keep me safe.
To keep everyone safe.
From the horror that I know.
From the monsters that rise from flames.
Become heroes when you need them again.
Make promises and then they end up getting killed.

Leaving their blood on your hands.
Everyone's eyes on you-- How did you know?
The strange girl with no tongue in her mouth.
Dumb and silent, broken and dependent.
And all the truth locked inside of her.

Never to be told.
Because no other mortal could handle--
The kind of truth that someone like me knows.
