butterfly affect

 butterflies are passing expressions
of extravagant beauty                                      
entire life times
displayed within a single
twenty four hour period

we wonderfully stumble
to comprehend the energy expended
simply to adorn the winds in splendid
for such a short span of time

serendipitous scale and perspective              
allow us this outside observation
letting us see a mercurial crystal                    
of flaked infinity  
held against the inside of an open palm

but it is our own immersion
into cemented size and slant
that trivializes our own stretch

when we are an impossible inch taller
Ptolemy is born in the previous second
wearing a pterodactyl skinned spacesuit      
and microchips sprout under
the first of the flowering willows
