"Treasure"

Three years ago I wrote the verses below
The experience was difficult to record
It constantly reminds me of dreams to follow
*******
A lady friend called, pleasant surprise
Asked if I would listen to a request
'Sure' I'd no idea of scope or size

She offered a girlfriend who wished to meet
'Why me' I asked, curiosities many
'I've told her about you, thinks you're a treat'

I laugh, 'What lies have you told'
'None. She just needs some fun'
'Okay' thoughts race, 'What will unfold'

'Discretion is vital, I'll bring her to your place'
We agree on a (blind) date and time
Failed to ask, is she kind, easy to embrace

The time arrives, 7:00 PM, pacing
Thinking, 'What the hell did I do'
Have no earthly clue what I'm facing

They ring the door, we meet, greet, hugs too
She's petite, shy, quiet, hunger in her eyes
Our friend, 'I'll be back at midnight, toodle-oo'

We sit on the couch, ask questions, make small talk
Reveals she is a virgin, not yet had the pleasure
Says she's thirty-four, never done it, always balked

Now I'm curious, 'What else have the two of you not said'
Her reply hit me like a kick in the gut, I nearly gasp
'I have a tumor on my brain stem, let's go to your bed'

There it is, this bizarre situation now made sense
An inoperable cancer, her prognosis so grim
She dreamt to know a man while making no pretense

Overwhelmed with emotion, I carry her to my bedroom
Soft kisses and assuring whispers, I undress her
When asked, she wants on top, in control to lose her bloom

It is the most surreal sexual experience of my life
Caressing her milky white flesh as she sighs and weeps
Warm blood seeps from her folds as tears exit my eyes

Her hands on my abs, water streams onto my chest
As she cries and convulses, saying, 'Thank you, thank you'
I gently roll her aside, kiss her face, touch her breasts

She now wants to satisfy me, but I am spent, no lie
Unable to consider my shallow needs, unworthy
My words are soft, sincere, 'It's alright, I'm satisfied'

She lay asleep in my arms, her life in the balance
I can do nothing but gaze upon this brave young lady
One who has far more moxy than I, at rest, in silence

A knock upon the door, her personal taxi is here
As she leaves, we kiss, I hug her tight, with all that I am
She expresses sincere gratitude, oh so dear

We spoke several times over the phone, a sense of dread
Emotions rolling, never a goodbye with dry eyes
Four months later, unable to breathe, on a vent, tube fed

The family followed her wishes to disconnect
Life support was not what she wanted, but it's not easy
To unplug breath, an only daughter, their life wrecked

I write these words to honor this beautiful young treasure
One who shared her dream with a friend and took action
Gave a stranger her love, a love the ages will never measure
