Transparent Orange

Transparent orange
Always half empty, never full
(My God if it were, I'd never survive these dark days of mine)
Diluted truth, mask of lies
Love affair, slow suicide
Drowning in opiates
Sedated, state of euphoria
Eating'm up like sweet tarts
Numbing from the affliction, pain
Wounds that bleed
Scars burn with hurt
Surest deep into my heart
Ice pick, piecing my soul

Most times
I can see all the way down to the bottom
Like stained glass
Apollo's ultraviolet rays penetrate
Swimming in its degrading contents
Realizing this is no way to go

Chasing away at my demons that come to haunt
Keep reaching for you
Medicine cabinet beyond the mirror
Transparent orange
Grey clouding my blue
Hiding deep inside my haze
Within your transparent orange skin

More than I like to admit
Chewing sweet tarts, opiates
What's worse is when staring at myself in the mirror
Don't recognize who I am anymore
Behind these cold eyes
Is an addict trying to crawl out
From a mask of disguised lies

Truth is
Killing my spirit
While murdering me in the process
Diluted truth, blackened
Eyes dark and cold as night
A way to salvation, redemption for my lost soul
Saddening to know that im takin by what has sufficed
Down a river of deciet
Down... down, down
Drown... drown, drown
