Image for the poem Who can help me

Who can help me

I read the words you speak almost everyday
I ponder your thoughts written that you say
Like an oak you stand tall and grown beautifully
Desiring those who wish to climb and play

No one seems to notice your thick skin
Protecting your wounds deep within
Your roots are rotten with memories
You have buried them and the burden it carries

This temple that you have built
Strong and bold to last for centuries
Fending off those who try to breach
Leaving your rooms hollow and empty

Inside your walls are decorated of memories past
Covered by deceptive smiles of a veiled mask
Attracting those that marvel at your temple
Unaware of the emotional foundation that crumble

To answer the question of “who can help me”
Look at your walls and embrace what you see
The person you seek is beside you
It is the mirror that wants to love you

No one person can ever fill the void you feel
The initial love will only disguise what is real
When the void returns it hurts all over again
We blame them for not protecting us from our own pain

So heed the warning of “stay away from me”
That is her alter ego palace of treasure unseen
To find her you must dig through the tears in the dirt
To discover an amazing angel, just bruised and hurt
