Hey Love
Hey love
I’m sorry if I've been ghosting your bones
in the predawn hours where maybe you still think of me
with an every Sunday fondness
like a prayer to a deity you can’t see
I want you to find the courage
to stand, a mythical hero before me
my knees buckling to worship you
in all the ways you deserve
because you get me like a soul saviour
and I’m no longer afraid to admit
that I was scared to relinquish my gypsy whoring
for all our love
And I might not be stronger for running
but I’m stronger for coming back
a freak on an untethered leash
saying “sorry I let you down”
So stop looking out the window
up at the sky and over my head
don’t tell me I haven’t been ghosting your post-dusk bones
with that tear in your eye
Hey love
there’s a lock with a key waiting to be unlocked
to your heart and to mine
all you have to do is open the door
