As I Lay Me Down to Sleep
As I lay me down to sleep
I hope you won't weep
Think of me facing the sun
Not the girl trying to run
No need for the softest to lie in
A fancy dress to sleep in
'Cause it wouldn't change a thing
Eyes shut tight, lips unmoving
As I lay me down to sleep
Keep my dreams in a heap
Remember the days when I flew
The days I made it through
I don't need pearls and satin
Not your sweet talk, but the music that set me free
When I was still alive and burning
In the world of words that let me be
When what's done is done
Don't remind me why I've gone
And became a statue under land
Six-feet underground
Kiss me goodbye with your prayers
Not with angry words that I used to hear
When I was still with you here
I guess, I should've known better
The warmth is fading
Weary eyes tired and closing
But I still feel that I'm in water too deep
As I lay me down to sleep
I hope you won't weep
Think of me facing the sun
Not the girl trying to run
No need for the softest to lie in
A fancy dress to sleep in
'Cause it wouldn't change a thing
Eyes shut tight, lips unmoving
As I lay me down to sleep
Keep my dreams in a heap
Remember the days when I flew
The days I made it through
I don't need pearls and satin
Not your sweet talk, but the music that set me free
When I was still alive and burning
In the world of words that let me be
When what's done is done
Don't remind me why I've gone
And became a statue under land
Six-feet underground
Kiss me goodbye with your prayers
Not with angry words that I used to hear
When I was still with you here
I guess, I should've known better
The warmth is fading
Weary eyes tired and closing
But I still feel that I'm in water too deep
As I lay me down to sleep
