Twisting Anxiety
as I watch the storm clouds
roll across my eyes
I feel a grey
settle into my mind
the world collapses
upon a breaking thought
and time stops to
observe the moment
everything moves
in slow motion
as the hands of clock
tick in reverse
an eternity passes
as I turn my head
and makes the agony
that much worse
life trickles from
the corner of my eye
not of sorrow nor from pain
the subtle breaking
of a psyche
measured in drops of rain
with the world pressed
securely upon my chest
I start to buckle
under its weight
the twisting anxiety
and shortness of breath
is nearly more
than I can take
roll across my eyes
I feel a grey
settle into my mind
the world collapses
upon a breaking thought
and time stops to
observe the moment
everything moves
in slow motion
as the hands of clock
tick in reverse
an eternity passes
as I turn my head
and makes the agony
that much worse
life trickles from
the corner of my eye
not of sorrow nor from pain
the subtle breaking
of a psyche
measured in drops of rain
with the world pressed
securely upon my chest
I start to buckle
under its weight
the twisting anxiety
and shortness of breath
is nearly more
than I can take
