The Seasons of You

When the sunlight dances through my curtains in the morning,
It caresses my tired face,
And instead of cowering under the bed sheets and hiding my pale skin,
Trying to fend off the morning and the hours that lie ahead,
I embrace it,
Because I know it is you,
You, giving me your caring love and empathy.

And once I wake to face the day,
Get ready and step outside into the Lord’s playing ground,
A gust of wind may hit me,
And instead of hugging my coat closer around me or pushing the air away,
I let it pound into my back and nearly take me,
Because I know it is you,
You, giving me your guidance and motivation.

And when I venture outside to return home to the comfort of the warmth,
Dreaming of my loving books, bath and bed,
The rain suddenly starts falling,
And instead of pulling up an umbrella to shelter me from the cold,
I let it fall and kiss my skin,
Because I know it is you,
You, thanking me for list
ening to you and seeing another day.
