Wrong Side of a One Way Street

Take this knife
To my heart
Melodramatic
But its part of the charm
I'm tattooed with your arms
Cocooned in your embrace
Bruised from your kisses
And collapsing from the chase
Drooling over bombing men
Raining down in the dry heat
Invading the impoverished places
You once claimed clean
There is a lake near my hollow feet
I could walk on the surface
I cannot spot my reflection
Only the place we're supposed to meet
Collecting smooth stones
Ripples untraceable
I'm lipstick stains on your pillowcase
Permanent but altogether
Replaceable
The wind now sounds like records
Of warm summer days
Because it wraps me in what I only know as memories
Dancing with me until it fades
And I pause
It gets quiet with only my flaws
They do not smile
There's nothing worth hearing
Nothing endearing about the silence
With your breath still in my ear
You were my wind
To tousle my hair
And make the ripples clear
