Ah, in that ubiquitous Japanese poetic form. I won't guess which is it, haiku, senryu or what (until I understand those forms better) - but for now I am loving this telling of her flower ...
haiku is nature based in form ...senryu tends to speak directly to human emotion and actions.
IMHO the best haiku speak to the human condition through nature or provide vivid relief from it ...
This piece speaks of the loss of family or that which gives us strength only to have the bats (and birds) pick at us - yet when that happens we are reborn ...
I took your poem literally at first, as a straightforward observation of nature's process, and then symbolically, I attributed the flower to a mother, but I missed the perspective of the family (i.e. seeds) and the bats.
Yours is an interesting view on the haiku. I have often read the haiku only in terms of its notions of time. So it is good to know your view of it as it helps in my reading of your works. Thanks for the explication. :)
Flor de maga, national flower of Puerto Rico ... Family bonds, leaving the beloved behind, blooming and withering far away, giving abirth to new generations. My interpretation of this multilayered piece. Impressive write.
