Prevailing Winds

   And right then
butterflies descend
sky red
raining down
ash settling
blanketing warmth
over the scars
quenching flow
of winged bodies
prayed over fat worms
burrowing into torn flesh
is not the wages of sin
but deliverance
Alleluia
praise be
opening arms
unfolding wings
taking flight
into loving grace

life and death
on prevailing winds.
