"The Outward Act most time Reveals an Inner Deep-seeded Root."

Reading out of John 8 of the Gospels last night and this morning I begin to realize something from it's passages.
The opening of the chapter narrates the story of the woman who was caught in the act of adultery which was a grave thing to be caught doing in that day and with their laws on marriage.
She could have been stoned, which is what they were pushing Jesus to do, which would have been contrary to his very heart and teachings up to that point.

But what I begin to perceive as I read over this chapter a few times was a recurring argument that they had with him...
They loved to boast that they were not born of, Adultery but that their Father was God.

I found it interesting that the very thing that they wanted to stone this woman for, (the natural act), they were themselves guilty of, (spiritually).

Now he didn't first say to them that they were illegitimate children.
It first came out of their mouths in verse 33 when they told him that they were children of Abraham.
And from thereon He laid down the truth of the matter.

But an insight is clearly seen here how a natural act can reveal a deep-seeded spiritual problem.

He told them that the root of their problem was that they had committed spiritual adultery and were no longer showing the works of their Heavenly Father but the works of the Evil One whom they were now living like.

Through His Kindness and act of Forgiveness to this woman they themselves disclosed the darkness of their hearts.

It is Amazing how that the Delivering Power of Kindness and Forgiveness can open up a heart and dispel all of its darkness and troubling issues and Cleanse it, Refreshing it and Renewing it.

One other thing that this historical story taught us all is that there is truly a clear expression of a life that is in connection with the Father and one who has descended into the evil of the Father of lies.
