I forgot to comment on the photograph, which the haiku resembles. It's beautiful, too, and you have reason for being proud of your work. I admire the message and the perfect wording.

How often I feel betrayed by my own roots. I'm in my own way sometimes. How easily certain truths victimize us. I concur...beautifully crafted...
