don't stop believin'

I loved her like I loved
my last night in Detroit;
in over rushed warmths
that leave potholes in highways

Almost two years since a city
sang me tanned through blue, and
it's at least a thousand years
since she has seen me well

Took me the last two weeks
to remove all her images
from off the temple walls;
eradicating the acid from her magic

and now its back to the basics

no:
phone
television
money
job
distractions

no nothing, but the time
that turns into salt pillars
if you turnaround to look

They stare into me
like they're surprised I'm alive

I would cry if I enjoyed that story
but the tragedy that attracts my rest
has sold its name for scrap
