Chicopee
"I'm from Chicopee."
"Where's that?"
"It's um-- In Massachusetts."
"Near Boston?"
"No. . ."
Why do I even bother?
I wonder this to myself.
Another person that has no idea where I'm from.
Not that's it's much anyway.
It's a town in the "Pinoneer Valley"--
If that makes any more sense to anyone who doesn't know,
That Boston is not the only city in the Bay State area.
It's in Western Mass, does that make sense?
Near Springfield, wait there's a million of those.
No it's not near Salem-- Yes I've been there.
No I don't have an accent, I can say my R's.
The city used to be called Cabotville.
Before it got changed to match the river that runs through here.
"Chicopee Falls"-- I think it's named after the Indians.
Not the Chicopee Indians, but another name that I don't know.
Nipmucs-- Nipmucs, that's the name. . . "Chicopee" is a word.
A word they used meaning (according to Wikipedia) "Violent waters".
I've seen the river, it's not the scary.
The town's name lies about it's meaning.
This tiny town doesn't have anything that is considered a landmark.
Um it's near Holyoke?
Nevermind.
Agawam?
That's were Six Flags New England is, you know that right?
Springfield?
Um, Basketball Hall of Fame?
No it's not in Chicopee, it's near it.
Chicopee doesn't have anything but Wal-mart.
I have to go to Holyoke to go to the mall.
Yes "Holyoke" is another name of a town, near my own.
No I don't know why it's called that either.
No there's nothing fun to do in my small New England town.
I've been planning my escape from it for some time now.
I lived here off and on for twenty years.
And it's nothing but boring-- Really, really boring.
There's no where fun to go, nothing fun to do.
It's the epitome of boring New England towns.
It might as well be a made up town--
No wait they always have cool names.
Like the ones in the books I've written.
Blackwood.
Willow Stone.
Marble Bay.
Pitsfalls.
Admire.
Cedar Falls.
Safe Harbor.
Belle Harbor.
Hallows Brooke.
Brooke Haven.
Silent Lake.
Those are some good town names.
I wish I lived in those places.
They sound much much enjoyable then this place.
This boring place, that I was born and raised.
Born in Holyoke.
Raised in Chicopee.
Born in a boring town.
And move to the boring town next to it.
No one comes to Chicopee.
I think Stephen King mentioned it in his a book.
When his character was going somewhere else, less boring.
We were suppose to get a hurricane but it missed us completely.
Because it didn't want to come here either.
Honestly I don't blame it.
No one wants to come to Chicopee.
At least I know that I don't.
And I hated living in other states and people asking me where I'm from.
In movies people give the capital of their state or another big named town.
Not me, I'm not from the big name moving to a small town.
No I'm from the small town moving to another small town.
"I'm from Chicopee."

Nevermind.
Sure it's near Boston.
Because that's the only city in this God forsake state.
There is no other towns and cities.
Only Boston, and Salem can't forget the witches.
And no I'm not a Red Sox fan, I'm rooting for the Yankees.
So please don't ask where I'm from.
Cause I'll answer with "Middle of Nowhere, Massachusetts."
Cause I'm so tired of this game.
Of "Where are you from?"
And "Where is that?"
